This quiz is about heating time required to increase the temperature of water. Imagine that there are two containers filled with same mass of water. The initial temperature of water in Container A is 100C and that in Container B is 200C.

To simplify the problem, imagine that both the containers are insulated with perfect insulation, mean there is zero heat loss in the atmosphere during heating process. Both the containers are identical in all the aspects including shape, size, and material. The only difference is initial temperature of water insider the container.

Before getting into the details of the turbulent models let us discuss an important concept known as $y^{+}$ and know how it is related to turbulence modeling, mesh generation process and how it is going to affect the CFD end result. It is important to know about the concept of wall $y^{+}$ or in general how the flow behaves near the wall, to consider the effects near the wall as it is the basis on which choice of the turbulence model is governed.

As all of CFD, in one form or the other is based on the fundamental governing equations of fluid dynamics i.e. the continuity, momentum and energy equations these are called as the equations speaking physics. They are the mathematical statements of the three physical principles that govern fluid dynamics, hence it becomes very important to derive and discuss these equations. The current blog is motivated to review the very basis of governing equations understanding their physical meaning before actually deriving them.
